One of the first applications of vacuum was for the ordinary incandescent light bulb. Thomas Edison discovered that filaments lasted longer in a vacuum. Today’s low energy bulbs still use vacuum technology.

Niagara Frontier Publications: Welcome to Wheatfield

Edwards, a United Kingdom-based global manufacturer of vacuum and abatement equipment and services, officially opened its new $3.5 million North American headquarters at 6416 Inducon Drive West in Wheatfield on May 3. The new facility is 64,000 square feet and will be home to production, engineering, customer care, administration, marketing and distribution services. Once fully operational, the new facility will employ approximately 150 people.
